WHATS THE STORY BEHIND PATOG?

Patog is a new Persian Restaurant concept inspired and created by British born Persian Fareed Hashemi who is a professional chef and restaurateur with over 22 years’ experience in the Food and Beverage industry. Fareed opened his first bistro Café Au Lait in Victoria along the famous eatery district of Strutton Ground in 1999 and with over 15 years’ experience across the Middle East opening and setting up restaurants with his brother Naveed based out of Dubai.

Patog was the brainchild of Fareed wherein he always wanted to start a new Persian concept when he returned to the UK that was completely different and offered a unique alternative to the mainstream Chelo Kebabi Persian restaurants which currently exist and are commonplace across the world. Chelo Kebabi translates to Kebab and Rice and Fareed wanted to offer the public a more casual and rustic approach to Persian Food with a Patog signature twist on many of his dishes.

The essence of Home Cooked and Grandma style Persian Food was core to the Patog philosophy and serving dishes in traditional copper and aluminium plates just added to the feeling of nostalgia and makes you feel like you’re eating Persian Food in the back streets and in the famous bazaars across Iran. Patog is all about sharing and small plates so you can enjoy an array of dishes without being overwhelmed and enhances the casual dinning concept experience.
Fareed also wanted to ensure that he diversified the menu with a Vegan and Vegetarian offering as well as signature creations like his Persian Arancini combining Italian classic Arancini with Persian classic fillings and served with a saffron pomodoro sauce! Also crucial was to introduce to the public Persian Dishes from all over Iran as there is such a diverse range of dishes that are yet to be discovered by Persian food lovers in the UK and Patog wanted to boldly scream that Persian food is far more than just Kebabs and Rice!
PATOG translates to hang out or meeting point and this directly corelates to the whole ethos of Patog ie offering classic Persian dishes street food style but in a more casual and relaxed setting where people can hang out and chill together and enjoy the whole Patog experience.
We would love you to come down to Patog and hang out with us and enjoy our twist to Persian Food.
